Few things say ADD plus OCD than when you have to deal with injuries, particularly your own. The OCD personality wants it to be perfectly cleaned, perfectly bandaged, get it all right, stupid. The ADD one is going, "oh, I can't deal with that, it's too messy, wait, is that blood? [ears buzzing, vision going black...]" Then OCD retorts, "Wake UP, stupid, you haven't cleaned it yet and you're going to get some kind of horrible infection that will take your foot off!"
Yes, this is life inside my head sometimes. Fun. Don't you want to be me? Really? Why not?
Thankfully, thoughtful and nonqueasy parents were available to help a few hours after the accident and get things situated properly enough for OCD to allow ADD to give in to the head buzz half an hour later and take an afternoon nap. OCD did try to tell ADD how awful she was for not having the sense enough to take care of it herself, however, and how pathetic it is that a 43-year-old woman wants her mommy.
ADD did tell OCD to stuff her sanctimonius perfectionism, though, and reminded her of today's sermon on grace. ;)
